Single Channel Video. 5:49 minutes. 2023.

At the edge of a waterfall, two dancers merge as the river does when it meets the ocean, once separate, now inseparable.

“The river needs to take the risk
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.” – Kahlil Gibran

This piece was filmed at a hydro-electric dam that is the first of three which prevent the migration of salmon and steelhead fish upwards to their traditional spawning grounds. This piece brings to the forefront the fact that the ancient flow of water from the mountains down to the sea has been obstructed by people’s quest to conquer nature in favor of industrialization, disrupting ancient patterns of life and death in the process.
